National Volunteer Week

12 to 18 May 2014 marks National Volunteer Week in Australia. This week celebrates the wonderful work volunteers do to make Australia such a wonderful place to live. 300 Blankets is an advocate for volunteering as we wouldn’t exist without the community generously donating their time.

Over the last 12 months, we have committed to over 5000 hours of volunteer work towards our cause in keeping our community warm. In this time, we have spent 3700 hours working directly with people experiencing homelessness with community programs such as the Vinnies Soup Vans and Hanover Welfare Services Community BBQs. It is through volunteering for causes greater than ourselves that we meet the most incredible people outside of our day to day lives, discover ourselves, and find out that a simple smile or hug could mean a little more to someone than you might have thought.

I want to give a big warm thanks to 300 Blankets volunteers past, present and future, for believing in and supporting our cause. Together we can keep our community warm.

If you have yet to experience the rewards of volunteering for the community, contact us or visit volunteeringvictoria.org.au to find more opportunities to volunteer.
